No child can fulfill their potential on an empty stomach. With this realization our foundation put together The Grocery Delivery Program. This program is available to families working through challenging circumstances. It is based on individual needs and requirements.
In partnership with Joseph Richard Group we provide 4 warm, fresh Christmas Dinners to families going through difficult times.
The Saheli Foundation has a lot to be proud of. It was surreal to see our banner and logo in an elementary school across the oceans. We are so grateful for being able to adopt a school in Nangal (rural village), India. Backpacks along with necessary school supplies were given by the foundation to all the students. Their smiles say it all. This will be our yearly commitment to this school as we also hope to add more support in the coming years.
Working with the City of Surrey School Board and Staples South Surrey we provide 150 fully equipped backpacks each year to children who come to school without backpacks. (It is estimated that over 1,000 students come to school without a backpack every year).
We have adopted two second stage transition houses in Surrey, Harmony House and Serenity House. They are run through the PICS Society and are dedicated to providing women and their children with a safe, secure and supportive environment to get back on their feet. Through our Christmas Hampers Program each year our volunteers personally shop for each item on residents' wish list and deliver Christmas presents in person.
Each year The Saheli Foundation will provide scholarship for post-secondary education for a student pursuing their goals and dreams despite adverse circumstances they are facing!! To apply for this scholarship please fill out the application. This year we are supporting two young college students here from India, on student visas, to help them complete their studies.
It was while watching the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire (Kaun Banega Crorepati), that we learnt the story of this incredible man (you can read it here) who was trying to raise money for a school and orphanage he had established. Thanks to social media we were able to connect with immediately from across the oceans. It is our privilege and dream come true to be able to contribute to his wonder cause. Here is a hand written letter that he got someone from a neighbouring village to write in appreciation of our contribution.
